About the Faculty of Science
The faculty consists of four departments
and a Scientific Instruments Center for Standard and Industry, and
offers six majors: Chemistry, Mathe-matics, Applied Computer Science,
Physics, Microbiology, and Food Science and Technology. There are about
1,500 undergraduate students and 150 graduate students. The number of
students is expected to be about 2,200 in the year 2006.
The faculty is the university's principal service provider for all
science, engineering, architecture, IT, and industrial education
students. As one of the leading and principal academic units of KMUTT,
the Faculty of Science is committed to improving the quality of teaching
and learning by adopting constructionism and project-based learning
approaches as the highest priorities of its programs. Senior
students can select an elective course for intensive training in
business, industry, research institutes and universities both in
Thailand and foreign countries for about 4 months (March-July) using
problems of the industry as learning objects. With this
approach, we welcome business entities, industry, research institutes,
and universities that have common interests to cooperate, share
resources and help implement these approaches to full capacity and for
academic networking. Collaborations on research, student/staff exchange,
and twinning degree programs with foreign university partners were
established with Kansas State University, |
