The Faculty of Science aims to become internationalized in terms of education, teaching advancements and research to meet global standards of excellence. InterSciNews

       InterSciNews is the publication associated with both Thai and foreign students at the King Mongkut'sUniversity of Technology Thonburi, published officially by the International Affairs of Faculty of Science. InterSciNews is a window for the international community of the faculty. There are both news and articles related to the activities and other events that take place in the Faculty and the University. This is in the hopes for the visibility of the Faculty of Science and KMUTT.

Thai-international Buddy Program (Thai students take care of foreign students)

       The Thai- international buddy program essentially allows foreign students that study in the Faculty to experience smooth living and studying experience. The program is voluntary and open to all students in the faculty. We believe that this program help develop cultural skills and help them build networks with people from different countries and of different cultures.

INTERNATIONAL DUAL DEGREE PROGRAMS (MASTER’S PROGRAMS)

     Study at King Mongkut's University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT) and our partner universities to have the opportunity to obtain Master’s Degrees from both universities. This distinctive opportunity offers courses in Chemistry, Mathematics and Microbiology departments. The student must study at our partner university for at least 2 semesters and at KMUTT for at least 2 semesters.

 

Qualifications

      Applicants must have completed a bachelor's degree in a related field. Students who have been selected to participate in the dual degree program must comply with the specific requirements of the regular master's degree program as well.

 

Tuition and fees

      The students must pay tuition and fees at KMUTT by themselves. The student is responsible for the costs of travel, accommodation and personal allowances.

 

Application

      Students interested should submit a formal application similar to the regular admission practices. Please contact the Office of International Affairs to determine whether we have an agreement with the destination University of destination prior to the signing of the dual degree program.

 

Scholarship

      The students enrolled in the dual degree programs who meet the criteria will be eligible to apply for Faculty of Science scholarship. The students will be exempt from tuition and fees. However, the students will be responsible for the travel costs, accommodation, personnel allowances and training both locally and abroad.

DOCTOR OF PHILOSOPHY IN BIOSCIENCES

      The PhD program in Bioscience (International course) aims to train students in research of microbiology and food technology fields. Applicants must complete the course including 48 credits of core subjects, electives subjects and thesis research. There are researches including quality and safety improvement of food in Agriculture and Applied Microbiology, Wastewater treatment, Usage and Management and Molecular biology.

      Students interested should submit a formal application similar to the regular admission practices.

Student's Mobility Programs

       Industrial Cooperative Learning Program was initiated in 2003 to improve research collaboration with the business sector, academic research institute and industry through research projects of the undergraduate students. The program is for undergraduate students in their 4th year to allow students to develop problem-solving skills by participating in a full-time internship for four months both locally and abroad, in the field directly related to the curriculum and of career interest of the students. Each year, approximately 100 students (25% of the students enrolled in the undergraduate program) participate and does research assignment in about 40 organizations.
The faculty has research network with more than 50 companies, especially Hard - disk - drive, electronics companies, Food Science companies, petrochemical, chemical and pharmaceutical companies, paint and adhesives companies, and banking and finance companies.

       The Exchange Programs gives students of all levels the opportunity to gain experiences in institutions that are partners of the Faculty of Science and transfer the credits back to the host institution. Students can receive some financial support from the faculty and the University.

       Short-term Cultural Exchange Programs initiated with our University partners. Both the University and Faculty of Science has scholarships and some financial aid to students who have been selected to join the program through the selection process of the Faculty and University.

       Oversea Science Innovation Competition Contest takes place at the end of the semester. Science students who have been selected will have the opportunity to join the competition in international events fully supported by the Faculty of Science and the University.

Faculty Mobility Programs

       The Faculty of Science promote training of staff in the country and abroad to strengthen the teaching and learning skills and improve the ability to do forefront technology research. The program supports the materials and nanotechnology, Food Science and Technology, Laser and ozone technology, Risk analysis and decision making, Mathematics, Statistics and Computers fields.

 

       The Faculty of Science has an extensive partnership network with leading industries and universities worldwide. The Faculty of Science as a part of the University has more than 200 partner universities around the world. Currently, the Faculty held joint academic programs (Dual Degree / Exchange programs) with partner universities and industries to encourage students and staff to have work experience in a variety of areas (Mobility). Also, the International Affairs, Faculty of Science promotes and supports student leaders, promote student exchange program and promote logistics for students, both in Thailand and overseas. The entire project is aimed towards the Roadmap - 2020 which signifies the internationalization of the faculty.

       For internationalization of the faculty, we have ongoing operations to create international environment, and also increasing the funding for the international programs and language teaching programs. There is an increasing number of students, lecturers and staffs to participate in the international activities, and strengthening of logistic support for the international community. This improves the ranking in terms of teaching and research, adding value to the industry and community, and adding strength and professionalism to the organization.
