วันที่ 9 มิถุนายน 2568 คณะวิทยาศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยเทคโนโลยีพระจอมเกล้าธนบุรี (มจธ.) ได้จัดพิธีเปิดหลักสูตรอบรมระยะสั้น (Non-degree) เรื่อง “Conceptual Course for Macromolecular Structure Determination” โดยมี รศ.ดร.ตุลา จูฑะรสก คณบดีคณะวิทยาศาสตร์ เป็นประธาน พร้อมด้วย ดร.เอมอร ศักดิ์แสงวิจิตร หัวหน้าภาควิชาเคมี ร่วมในพิธี
หลักสูตรนี้จัดโดยหน่วยวิจัย Comprehensive Protein X-ray Crystallography (CPXC) ภายใต้การนำทีมโดย ผศ.ดร.ลีลา รักษ์ทองและ ดร.ศิวัตรา ชูเดช ร่วมกับ Dr. Ruslan Sanishvili จากสหรัฐอเมริกา มุ่งถ่ายทอดความรู้ด้าน Macromolecular X-ray Crystallography (MX) และ Cryo-electron Microscopy (Cryo-EM) แก่นักศึกษาและนักวิจัยจากไทยและประเทศในเอเชียตะวันออกเฉียงใต้ เพื่อส่งเสริมความสามารถในการวิเคราะห์โครงสร้างชีวโมเลกุลระดับ 3 มิติ
การอบรมจัดขึ้นระหว่างวันที่ 9 มิถุนายน – 9 กรกฎาคม 2568 ณ ห้อง CB2406X โดยมีทั้งภาคทฤษฎีและภาคปฏิบัติการใช้ซอฟต์แวร์เฉพาะทาง และได้รับเกียรติจากวิทยากรผู้เชี่ยวชาญระดับนานาชาติอีก 8 ท่าน อาทิ Dr. Ronan Keegan, Dr. Eugene Krissinel และ Dr. Andrey Lebedev จาก CCP4 (UK), Dr. Dorothee Liebschner จาก Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (USA) และ Dr. Peter Harrison, Dr. David Farmer, Dr. George Coldstream และ Mr. Nicholas Wyatte จาก Cryo-EM Core Facility, Diamond Light Source (UK)
หลักสูตรนี้เป็นหลักสูตรต่อยอดจากโครงการ SEA COAST ซึ่ง มจธ. จัดขึ้นอย่างต่อเนื่องระหว่างปี 2562–2567 โดยในปีนี้ได้ขยายระยะเวลาอบรมเป็น 1 เดือนเต็ม พร้อมเพิ่มหัวข้อด้าน Cryo-EM เพื่อรองรับความก้าวหน้าในวิทยาศาสตร์ระดับโลก และผลักดัน มจธ. สู่การเป็นศูนย์กลางความเป็นเลิศด้านโปรตีนเอกซเรย์คริสตัลโลกราฟีในภูมิภาค
KMUTT Faculty of Science Launches International Non-Degree Training Program in Structural Biology to Strengthen Research Capacity in Thailand and Southeast Asia
On 9 June 2025, the Faculty of Science, King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT) officially launched an international non-degree training course titled “Conceptual Course for Macromolecular Structure Determination.” The opening ceremony was presided over by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tula Jutarosaga, Dean of the Faculty of Science, with Dr. Aimorn Saksaengwijit, Head of the Department of Chemistry, in attendance.
This intensive training program is organized by the Comprehensive Protein X-ray Crystallography (CPXC) research unit, led by Asst. Prof. Dr. Leela Ruckthong and Dr. Siwatra Choodej, in collaboration with Dr. Ruslan Sanishvili, an expert in structural biology from the United States. The course aims to equip graduate students and early-career researchers from Thailand and across Southeast Asia with in-depth knowledge of Macromolecular X-ray Crystallography (MX) and Cryo-electron Microscopy (Cryo-EM) which are essential techniques for understanding biomolecular structures at the atomic level, with applications in drug design and biotechnology development.
Held from 9 June – 9 July 2025, the course includes lectures and hands-on sessions, featuring 8 international experts, including: Dr. Ronan Keegan, Dr. Eugene Krissinel, Dr. Andrey Lebedev (CCP4, UK), Dr. Dorothee Liebschner (Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, USA), Dr. Peter Harrison, Dr. David Farmer, Dr. George Coldstream, and Mr. Nicholas Wyatte (Diamond Light Source, UK)
This course builds on the success of the SEA COAST program (2019–2024), with expanded content, a full one-month schedule, and the addition of Cryo-EM which is a rapidly advancing technique in structural biology. The initiative reflects KMUTT’s commitment to advancing structural biology education and fostering regional collaboration in Southeast Asia.
